Those were happier times
More carefree
More easy
More innocent, in a way
Everyone says, don’t live in the past
Look in front, look to the future
Make new memories
But I do like looking back
Looking at how easy it all was
Looking at how happy I was with the littlest things.
Create new memories, they say,
Create even better ones
But trying now won’t make them good
Because now I have to try
Whereas in the past
They came freely, unexpectedly, unburdened
Look at me now, trying.
I don’t know how to create happy memories
So I look back, at happy memories, to learn how to create them
And occasionally I get lost looking
So don’t start looking for me
At some point I will come back
Just not now
Because I got lost
In the happier times
